Every Saturday, volunteers walk one block with notebooks and a recorder. They ask shopkeepers, residents and children what they call the lane, and why.
The answers rarely match the municipal map. A street might carry the name of a teacher, a vanished cinema or a tree that once shaded the entire corner.
The project treats disagreement as evidence. A place can hold several names because it has held several lives.
